Len was still concerned about keeping costs down and threatened to sack Deirdre only weeks in to her employment, but was forced to back down when Ray and Jerry threatened to walk out too.
Deirdre helped keep the business afloat with Jerry when Len and Ray temporarily went elsewhere.
She could be identified by her large glasses and husky voice brought on by many years of chain smoking.
Deirdre Ann Hunt was born on 8th July 1955, the only child of corset-maker Blanche Hunt and bank manager Donald Hunt and raised at 20 Victoria Street while attending Bessie Street School.
Bad luck continued to follow Deirdre; in 1997 she became involved with con man Jon Lindsay, whose machinations landed her in Redford Prison on fraud charges.
Her conviction was overturned when another victim of Jon's came forward.
